Personal creation Myth

Dylan Brady

9/3/12

English III honors

A long time ago, one man lived in the heavens. His name was George, who had an unusual skill in drawing and painting. He lived in the clouds and only had a stencil, paints, and a pencil.  One day, he had an idea to draw a companion of his own, someone George could share his problems and talk with. So he attempted to draw the most beautiful women in his eyes that he could create within his drawing abilities. He spent a full two days attempting to draw the beautiful women, who he decided to name Skyier. As George put the finishing touches on his beautiful work of art, he was tired and went to take a nap. An hour passed when he was awakened by such an unusual light in the clouds. George got up and explored the situation. To his surprise, this girl, that looked almost like the drawing he started on. He went to talk to her and she said “I am trying to find my way home, and I have no idea how I got here, would you mind helping me find my way back home?”George, now knowing this is his true companion says “This landscape here, beneath us, the one that is so barren and bland, this can be OUR world!” George, hoping Skyier would agree, did, and the two stayed together, working on their new world.

George, who worked almost nonstop trying to figure out what to create, was working on creating humans, animals and flying creatures. Skier, who had a very peculiar ability to make plants and vegetation grow with every step she took on the fertile soil, walked all across the earth, giving birth to the first trees and plants. Centuries past as the two worked continuously on the new world, the first animals created were the elephants, ants , tigers and rats who were to live on the surface. And hawks, who roamed and ruled the skies of this new world.

The couple realized that in order to send the sea life down to the world, they needed a liquid source so the real life could be maintained. The George and Skier though about what to do, but didn’t even know where to start. The couple eventually exhausted, went to sleep, and hoped they could think of something in the morning.

When George woke up that morning, he had a creative idea on how to add a sufficient amount of water; he woke up and realized that the water was starting to fill from the rain they had created. George thought that in order to fill the oceans with water, it must rain for years and years to come. So for centuries it rained upon the new world until the water was completely filled. The Sun was shining like a match in the darkness, evaporating all the puddles and marshes from the land.

After years of preparation and enhancements to the new world. George asked his wife something very important; “What do you think of this new world, what should we name it? For the world is getting too old for us to call it NEW world.” Skier laughed and said “Well we could take the first letter of each of the first animals that we have created; E-A-R-T-H- Earth right?” George replies with enthusiasm “That’s perfect!” and so the couple lived on the planet Earth for the rest of their life caring for it with a passion. Creating more and more diverse and advanced forms of life, or what we call in the present time, Evolution.
